Welcome to the Riverwood Band Website!
October 21st is our fall concert featuring our beginner band students and Honor/Symphonic band students! This concert takes place the day after Fall Break and serves as a quick, fun showcase of what our students have accomplished during the first nine weeks of school.
Beginner Band students will demonstrate the sounds and skills they’ve been developing each day in class, and they’ll also perform together as a full group.
Honor Band/Symphonic Band students will perform some of the exciting football tunes they’ve been working on this semester.
The concert will begin promptly at 6:30 PM in the RMS Gym and will wrap up shortly after.
We understand that students have homework and tests, so we plan to keep the event brief and efficient.
October 23rd is our 8th Grade Night with the Kingwood High School Band. This is a chance for our 8th graders to go and experience what it is like to be a part of KM4B for a football game!
They are going to the high school after lunch, ride to the game, and sit in the stands and play pep songs with the band. Due to the game being on a Thursday night this year, we will be riding back to KHS once the third quarter ends. We will be emailing out a schedule once we receive it from the high school.
The HS provides t-shirt for this event, so we need to know sizes. Please fill out the form with your 8th graders shirt size. Note that they are all in adult sizes.
After 8 years of Creekwood winning the Middle School Spirit competition, we took the victory this year at the KM4B Sneak Preview!
Thank you so much to all of your amazing support!
Honor Band Sectional Schedule
Honor Band sectionals will begin August 25th. We ask that students are present for every sectional because that is the only time that the directors have to work with individual sections.
Morning sectionals start at 7:00 AM and end at 7:45 AM.
Afternoon sectionals start at 4:15 PM and end at 5:00 PM.
If a students sectional time falls during their athletics practice they are allowed to miss one day per week, but they must communicate with their coach.
Band Handbook
This is the comprehensive program packet for the Riverwood Middle School Band. In it, you will find information about conduct and performance expectations, grading and attendance policy, concert and informal uniforms, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Private Lessons
It is recommended that members of Concert Band take private lessons. This is the best way for students to enhance their musical knowledge and performance level, and it is a great way for them to prepare for Region Band auditions and Solo & Ensemble Festival. Most private lessons are taught at RMS or KHS, but some lesson instructors prefer to teach out of their homes. Below is a list of lesson teachers (by instrument) and their contact information.
Paying for private lessons is the responsibility of the student and their parents.
